A new development firm has taken over responsibility for the maintenance, hosting, and future development of Archnet. The new company, Performant Software Solutions LLC is a software company based in Boston, MA and Charlottesville VA, with a specialization in Digital Humanities software projects and technology consulting.
The fact that they have a passion for, and a great deal of experience in working with cultural heritage collections, scholarly and visual archives, manuscript and textual studies, and historical and archaeological data projects makes them a particularly good fit for Archnet, a collaboration between the Aga Khan Trust for Culture and the Aga Khan Documentation Center at MIT.
With 8,885 published site and name records, Archnet is the preeminent online authority on the built environment in Muslim societies. With 128,6111 fully downloadable images, videos, documents, files, and publications in the database, Archnet is also the leading open access repository on the subjects of Islamic architecture, urban planning, landscape design, and related topics.
Users are likely to immediately notice a marked improvement in the speed and responsiveness of Archnet, but as with any major move of this kind, there are likely to be issues that will only be discovered through use. Please help us to make improve Archnet performance by reporting an issues you encounter. A form for this is available at: https://goo.gl/forms/GaZK2RMoRfk3dBFl1
